Established in 1980,” Vassilis Baskozos architects and associates” is an architecture studio based in Athens, Greece. Early commissions were predominantly residential projects, offices and industrial complexes (Delta SA., Tasty SA, etc.). Over the years the office’s portfolio expanded to a wide range of projects, including: commercial buildings, schools and universities, cultural and sports centers, urban planning and landscaping projects, hotels, bank branches, interior design projects. In these projects, we experienced the great pleasure and privilege to work together with artists, such as sculptors and painters, to create and incorporate artworks into the projects. Projects and artworks of the studio are frequently published in the local press and abroad. (DBZ, Wohn & Design, Architecture mediterraneenne, Abstract, L’architettura, Architecture in Greece, etc.). The company achieved several entries and won awards in international and local competitions.
For over 40 years, the studio, founded and led by Vassilis Baskozos -also founder and majority partner in MOB architects- was structured to operate by coordinating design groups. Throughout its operation, the studio has managed to consolidate a collaborative network of engineers who work with the studio on regular basis and share the same values.

PHILOSOPHY
The firm’s core belief is that architecture should not be considered as a temporary product, but as a creation that passes the test of time. Trying to balance the scale between timeless designs and keeping up with times, the team is in a continuous search of innovative new technics. These innovations often need to be adjusted and redefined in order to conform to, give prominence and enhance specific projects. The desired result is a design that causes sensation with direct physical and emotional impact. The goal is to create cost efficient sustainable designs that offer durability through time with maximum quality. Considering the consequences and the impact of uncontrollable human activities affecting the environment, the projects need to give priority to the interrelationship between architecture and nature and integrate that necessity in the contemporary architectural design.

DESIGNING METHOD
The focal point of every designing procedure is to study and evaluate the conditions and unique characteristics of the site. The aim is to acknowledge the opportunities, utilize the available materials and face the challenges in order to create a unique approach in each project and produce an efficient design, that showcases both the environment and the structure. In this process, the first step is to study the local and vernacular architecture and comprehend its evolution. Views, climate, textures and colors are also essential tools to figure out the concept.
After classifying the initial data and completing the conceptual process, the next step is to set the orientation, position and desired scope of view of the building.  During this stage, different propositions and versions are being tested to produce a fusion of aesthetics and functionality that will reflect the client’s needs, the building chart, our values and the landscape demands.
Keeping focus on the details is the link that integrates everything. There follows an extensive phase of research on choice of materials and techniques, in close cooperation with the client, according to the needs and the budget of the project. Different qualities trigger different sensations and cause diverse impressions. The appropriate utilization of color, materials and light can significantly enhance the structure.
The team often deals with existing structures, adding new elements, configurating the suited layout and reinforcing the prominent features. The desirable outcome is a new building that not only serves the added functions, but also enhances the existing qualities.
From the original outline to the last detail, the design is continually reviewed to provide a well-rounded proposal.
